Holidays| Happy Thanksgiving

Before we take a moment to wish our readers and followers a Happy Thanksgivings, we wanted to also warn everyone to be extra careful this holiday season.  This is the season that men and women especially become targets. This is the season that the broke become rich and the rich become poor. Maybe not poor but the rich  become victims to crimes such as identity theft and credit card fraud and a slew of other scams that criminals have been brewing up all year.

This year before you eat the leftover turkey and drink egg nog take a moment to beat criminals at their own game. Here’s tips to keep you safe throughout the holidays and all year long!

  • Place a credit alert on your credit report
  • Contact your bank and let them know when you’re traveling
  • Protect your credit card and your credit card pin at all times
  • We know you’re excited but DON’T tell social media outlets such as Facebook,Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat when you’re going on vacation. Sadly most burglaries are done by people that know their victims.
  •  Turn off your location before you upload pictures to your social media sites
  • If it’s legal in your city and state invest in a keychain of pepper spray
  • Meet your blind online date in a public place NEVER tell them where you live
  • Only carpool to holiday parties with people you absolutely know and trust
  • Only give your whereabouts to people you know such as close family members and friends

This list could go on and on.. So please take a moment to leave tips below to help someone stay safe this holiday….

Hugs and love to you all and Happy Thanksgiving!- LK

News|Texas Mom Leaves Toddlers Trapped in SUV

Mom Charged in Death of Daughters, 1 and 2, Who Were Left in Car for More Than 15 Hours

The girls, ages 1 and 2, were gravely ill when they arrived at the hospital. According to investigators, their mother made it sound like they’d collapsed mysteriously on an otherwise idyllic day.

“There’s a lake close to where they were,” Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer told The Washington Post. “She said the little girls were walking around smelling flowers. She didn’t know if maybe they’d ingested or touched a poisonous flower.”
That was a lie, Hierholzer said. The sisters’ final day of consciousness had not been spent among flowers, he said, but rather intentionally trapped inside an SUV that grew hotter by the hour in “the most horrific case of child endangerment that I have seen in the 37 years that I have been in law enforcement.”
It is, sadly, not so rare for children to be left alone in hot cars as the sun bakes them alive. Law enforcement and first responders see multiple cases each year. But “most of them are accidents,” Hierholzer said.
“She knew those kids were back there. She left them in that car,” he said.

Amanda Hawkins, 19, had not taken her daughters to a park as she first claimed, authorities say, but rather to a friend’s house on Tuesday night, where she got out of the vehicle and left her children alone until noon the next day.
“About 15 to 18 hours,” Hierholzer said. “Windows rolled up. Ninety degree weather.” The sheriff didn’t say exactly what Hawkins and her friends were doing in the house.

But some time Tuesday evening, he said, someone heard the girls crying outside and asked Hawkins to bring them in. “She said: ‘No, it’s fine. They’ll cry themselves to sleep,’” Hierholzer said.

The mother had arrived to the house with a teenage friend, who early in the morning went to sleep in the car with the children, according to the sheriff. But “he went back inside,” the sheriff said. The children remained in the car as the sun rose over the Hill Country county northwest of San Antonio.

Their names were Brynn Hawkins, 1, and Addyson Overgard-Eddy — a 2-year-old who loved to help adults by fetching items for them, a friend of the mother told KSAT.

The mother finally returned to the SUV about noon on Wednesday, Hierholzer said. “Best we can tell, they were probably unresponsive.”

They were alive, still. But instead of seeking help immediately, authorities say, the mother bathed and re-dressed her children — attempting to cover up what happened until their conditions left no option but the hospital and a lie about flowers.

Movie Review|Unforgettable

Many of us were sold on the movie Unforgettable just by seeing the previews RIGHT? Right! Okay so let’s get down to the nitty gritty for our movie review. unforgettable movie

The movie starts out with Rosario Dawson who plays Julia Banks in this movie, is a successful writer who moves from her current state to California to be with her fiancée, Geoff Stults who plays David Connover  and his daughter-Lily Connover played by actress Isabella Kai Rice.

At first, the audience can only be happy for Julia and her big move to Cali that’s until she meets, Lily’s mom-Tessa Connover (Katherine Heigl). Please note that although her and David were no longer married she didn’t bother to change her name back to her maiden name. For us that’s already a red flag!

Get your hopes up about this movie if you want, but keep in mind that the movie is pretty predictable and you will probably have flashbacks about movies you’ve seen pretty similar. This is not a date night type of movie, it’s more of a girl’s night out type movie because of the movie’s scorn wife/lover wanting second chance type plot. Trust us only women would be interested in this.

In MOST cases whenever there’s a recipe of STEP-mom and child visitations involved there’s a perfect recipe for trouble. This movie poses as a thriller but the movie poster somewhat gives away the whole motive behind the movie. unforettable

When Julie first get to California with David everything is seems perfect until it’s time for Lily, David’s daughter to visit. Upon their first meeting, Tessa just comes off as an overprotective mom. You know the ones that what you to go over and beyond for their kid and do stuff that they don’t even do–yea that type of overprotective type.

Julia being a new to the whole stepmom role, pretty much just let Tessa come to David’s house and take over. Her intimidation to Julia may have been the plan to scare Julia back to wherever she came from.

Okay so to sum this movie up, Julia had a past of being domestically abused and an abusive boyfriend that had been looking for her. Thanks to Tessa stealing Julia’s phone, she quickly learned how to reunite Julia and her ex-stalkerish, abusive boyfriend. She also managed to make David insecure about Julia’s loyalty. Tessa also planted seeds in Julia’s mind about her and David going to counseling to get everything back on track with the well-over done marriage.

Personally some parts of the movie showed some abuse and Mother Dearest type action especially when Tessa cut Lily’s hair. Couldn’t believe she cut that sweet little girl’s hair. Just a horrible scene.. Just Horrible! All mother’s will get pissed at this scene!

You couldn’t help but to love both of these women because if you currently have an ex that you want to re-kindle with then Tess is your girl because  she was a real ____________!! If you’re currently a step-mom then you will love Julia. Honestly, Julia was our favorite. She just seem to be more realistic and flattering to the eye. Both women played their role to the fullest.

Oh wow, how could we forget to mention evil Tessa had a mom from hell played by Cheryl Ladd. We are not off the mark when we say that Tessa’s mom is probably the reason there will be an UNFORGETTABLE part 2.. Remember that you read about the sequel here on this blog! Julia also had a best friend that was a great confidant but unfortunately she wasn’t that she Julia needed her most or maybe she was… Well no she wasn’t.

Toward the end of the movie, Tessa and Julia get into a fight and as you all can guess by now David was somewhere knocked out the whole time Julia has to fight for the both of them. So sad how that happens huh? Luckily, due to our praying and hoping Julia, David and Lily got away from Tessa safely and they all lived happily ever after.. UNTIL one day they get a knock on the door….

Have you seen Unforgettable yet? Comment below on your thoughts!

{UPDATE} Missing|Nahomi Rodriguez

In July, we shared a missing report of  Nahomi Rodriguez today we wanted to report the following update:

Remains discovered in a canal late last week have been positively identified as missing Texas teen Nahomi Rodriguez, who disappeared in July.

A set of bones were uncovered by a farmer working on the canal last Thursday. On Saturday, using dental records, authorities positively identified the remains as belonging to Nahomi. The case is now being investigated as a homicide.

“There was a lot of evidence recovered at the scene,” Harlingen Police Chief Jefferey Addickes said at a press conference Monday. “We are very hopeful that — bringing Nahomi home — that we find the person or persons responsible.”

Several members of Nahomi’s family spoke at the press conference Monday. Nahomi’s father, Ramiro Rodriguez, who spoke with Dateline last summer about his daughter’s disappearance, asked for anyone with information to come forward.

“We need help. Anybody — somebody knows something. We need her friends’ help to get to the bottom of this,” Ramiro told several reporters outside. “Somebody knows something. That’s it.”

Nahomi’s family has been extremely active in their search for Nahomi since the teen disappeared on the night of July 17, after leaving work at a McDonald’s in Harlingen, Texas.

Finances|What WOMEN should know about credit repair and credit repair scams

You see the ads in newspapers, on TV, and online. You hear them on the radio. You get fliers in the mail, email messages, and maybe even calls offering credit repair services. They all make the same claims:

Credit problems? No problem!

“We can remove bankruptcies, judgments, liens, and bad loans from your credit file forever!”

“We can erase your bad credit — 100% guaranteed.”

“Create a new credit identity — legally.”

Do yourself a favor and save some money, too. Don’t believe these claims: they’re very likely signs of a scam. Indeed, attorneys at the Federal Trade Commission, the nation’s consumer protection agency, say they’ve never seen a legitimate credit repair operation making those claims. The fact is there’s no quick fix for creditworthiness. You can improve your credit report legitimately, but it takes time, a conscious effort, and sticking to a personal debt repayment plan.

News| Woman Arrested, Charged With Capital Murder in Death of Newborn Daughter

Ashley Blades (NBCDFW)

Ashley Blades

A North Texas woman(Ashley Nicole Blades) is in jail, charged with capital murder in the death of her newborn daughter. According to the Weatherford Police Department, a man called police at about 2:10 p.m. Tuesday requesting a welfare check at the home of his estranged, pregnant girlfriend. The man said the woman, identified by police as 22-year-old Ashley Nicole Blades, had contacted him via text to say she’d given birth and the baby had died.

When officers arrived at Blades’ residence on the 400 block of Ball Street, she told police during an interview the child was in the trunk of her car. The woman gave the police her car keys; inside the trunk, they found a deceased infant wrapped in a towel and placed in a plastic bag. In a probable cause affidavit {shown below}, a paramedic reported the child was cold to the touch with visible bruising. Police believe the baby died by suffocation, according to the affidavit.

Blades was immediately handcuffed and detained, police said. Police said Blades waived her right to remain silent and told detectives she had given birth to the child Monday morning at home. She admitted that, “at one point during the day she was trying to keep the crying baby quiet so she covered the infant’s nose and mouth for a minute or two.”

She said after she did that, “the baby never cried or seemed the same.” Later that evening, Blades said she went to check on her child and found the baby dead. Police said there was no indication Blades ever sought medical attention for the child at any time since the baby’s birth.

  • Blades was arrested and booked into the Parker County Jail on charges of capital murder and abuse of a corpse. She is being held on $250,000 bond for the captial murder charge and $5,000 bond for the abuse of a corpse charge. In Texas, capital murder includes the murder of a person under the age of 10.

The infant, whose name has not been released, was transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The results of that autopsy are not yet known.

It is not clear if Blades has obtained an attorney.

As mothers, we hate to see stories like this. We tell our children not to talk to strangers, look both ways when crossing the street.. and the real dangers of being a child is lurking in their own home. How sad!

[UPDATE] Missing|Kayla Gomez-Orozco

Recently we posted about the missing 4th grader Kayla Gomez-Orozco and tonight we report that she was indeed found dead.

Authorities in Tyler charged a 24-year old man with capital murder in the death of a 10-year old girl that prompted an Amber Alert last week.Gustavo Zavala-Garcia received a $10 million bond on Monday after detectives say he was responsible for the death of Kayla Gomez-Orozco.

The 4th grader was found in a well behind a home Saturday night in Bullard that Zavala-Garcia lived at, ending an exhaustive search that gripped much of East Texas for days.Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith confirmed to WFAA on Monday that Zavala-Garcia was at the church where Kayla disappeared from on November 1.

“I’ve seen a lot of bad stuff but this is one of the worst,” Smith said.Smith says detectives continued to work the crime scene on Monday off FM2493, approximately 15 miles south of Tyler and were able to gather additional evidence from the well that led to the capital murder charge. He says detectives do have a narrative of a possible motive they are working from, but will not release that to the public.

“We want a jury to hear that, and we don’t want a change of venue,” Smith said.  “Smith County is not somewhere I would want to go in East Texas to commit a crime like this.”Zavala-Garcia was originally being held in the Smith County Jail on a Federal Immigration Customs detainer. Public records show he was arrested on assault charges in 2014.

Law enforcement sources told WFAA Zavala-Garcia was deported in 2014 but returned to Texas a short time later.Officials said Sunday that a lead provided to law enforcement led to a search warrant being obtained. Kayla’s body was recovered after midnight.

“It was strictly a lead that was initiated by good investigative law enforcement,” Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith said.Outside Jack Elementary in Tyler, where Kayla attended as a fourth grader, approximately 300 turned out for a vigil and prayer service Sunday night. The brick pillars of the school and parking signs were adorned with bright pink ribbons, signifying Gomez-Orozco’s favorite color.

Movie Review|Girl on a Train

The Girl on the Train is NOT a movie for you to watch when you’re sad feeling like watching television with a big bowl of ice cream.. This a definitely a suspense girly type movie. WHY? Because women we know it all and when we don’t we will for sure get to the bottom of it.

So as you watch this movie keep this in mind. There 3 female characters and 3 male characters and we will list them from the order of importance.  The GIRL on the train is Rachel played by Emily Blunt. Megan is Haley Bennett, Anna is Rebecca Ferguson..

The male characters in the movie are Tom played by Justin Theroux, Edgar Ramirez as Dr. Kamal Abdic and Scott played by Luke Evans which was super sexy in this movie by the way!

This movie is a suspense movie but it’s also a mystery type movie. It’s a mystery because everyone wants to know why the girl is on the train. The girl on the train character is Rachel. So what is Rachel doing on the train? Is she going to work? Is she on her way home from work? Is she picking up the kids from daycare? Like all of those questions are a mystery at the start of the movie. Ladies because we are so nosey, you will get to the bottom of this movie…

As Rachel is on this train daily she is passing by two houses everyday which happens to be the homes of both Megan and Anna. Now you’re wondering who are they and what connection do they have with the girl on the train? See more mysteries…..As it turns out Anna is not the new wife to Rachel’s ex-husband. Megan just happen to be the nanny and neighbor of Anna. So how convenient for Rachel to pass by both of these ladies house every day on the train.

As the movie go on it’s quickly understood that Rachel and Tom are divorced and he once cheated on her with Anna. Yes your read it correctly. Anna and Tom are happily married, but she was once the side piece and she now has Tom’s baby which is what Rachel has always wanted while married to Tom.

Megan comes into the story because she was the nanny and neighbor of Anna and Tom, patient of Dr. Kamal Abdic and wife of Scott. Please take note of how MEGAN has a connection with all the main characters in this movie.

So while Rachel is riding this train back and forth to where ever her proposed destination is, we learned that she is a heavy drinker.. By heavy drinker, we don’t mean a cutesy little girly drink every now and then, we mean a tore up from the floor up type of drinker. Rachel was the type of drinker that would drink and black out and wouldn’t remember where or who she was.. Poor little baby!

So here’s a life lesson that we gained from watching this movie: Rachel was on the train which proved that she wanted to go somewhere but she couldn’t because she was holding on to her past. She couldn’t get over the fact that Tom had left her for another woman and moved on with his life. She continued to pick herself apart and re-live those memories of her past over and over again. It wasn’t until she GOT off the train that she stopped drinking and pick up the pieces of her life. Life Lesson: Always love yourself even when you feel that no one else does. Learn from the past and don’t make your past your future!

Okay so on to the rest of the movie, Megan was the nanny for Anna and she too had deep dark secrets which is why she had to talk to Dr. Abdic – a psychiatrist.

Each day that Rachel got on the train she watched the lives of both Anna and Megan until one day Megan comes up missing and Rachel is blamed for her disappearance. Did we mention that Megan was pregnant when she vanished. Once Rachel was blamed for Megan’s disappearance she turns from poor pitiful drunk into a smart little detective who happens to bump into Scott-Megan’s husband.

As it turns out Anna wasn’t the only one that Tom was having affairs with and after Rachel sobers up she tends to find out more than she wanted to know about her ex-husband that she felt she wasn’t good enough because she had issues having his baby.

This is a great movie but you have to put on your thinking detective cap and just try to keep with the plot of this story..
