We had the opportunity to chat with Carly about her recent book and here are the questions that we asked:
What does the title of your book mean or what inspired the title of your book?
“I changed the title a few times, it was ‘my American tale’ but I felt it sounded like someone traveling whereas my character was from the city; I got my family to help out with the title and I used ‘A winter’s tale’ to play on the surname of the character and the ‘new york’ so I could do other books as a series.”
What inspired you to write your first novel?
“I just had the idea one day, it was about 9 years ago, I was in a dead-end job and pretty much lived the life I wanted through writing it. My dream is to live in New York and the rest just happened, I didn’t plan any of the books, I wrote it as it came to mind. A lot of people said it’s a bizarre way to write.”
Briefly tell what your book is about and did you have a target audience in mind when writing your book?
“My target audience was me really, people my age (21) wanting to live a better life then the one you have, it was a way to live that life and I wanted those form other people; for them to escape to a place they could imagine it was them. It’s about a Young unemployed girl who lives in New York, finds her perfect job online. After reading your book, what lesson do you want readers to take away from your book?
“That your life is what you make of it, you can do and accomplish anything you want and I want to empower people to remember that.”
Are you planning to write another book soon?
“I have started planning the second book to the series, I don’t wanna give anything away in this book by the title of my new book”
If there is anything that you can tell other women to inspire them, what would it be?
“Not to live a what if life! Don’t live a dull life and dream about how you want to live, do it, make the change, live in the edge and get the things you want! Don’t settle!”
