My name is Jen and my blog is called Diffusing the Tension. The name started because I began my journey of self-exploration with the use of essential oils. It led me to really start caring about my health and led me to want to help others do the same. I never knew how much control I had over my own health. I always felt like I was at the mercy of medical professionals. But my use of essential oils gave me the confidence to start asking more questions and advocating for myself.
I started blogging in January of 2019 because I felt a weight on my heart to share my journey with bipolar disorder. I thought it could help others to feel less alone. I started by sharing my story with family and close friends. That gave me the courage to keep writing, and their questions helped me develop ideas for future posts.
Now, I write about mental health, and also parenting and other forms of wellness. I blog 3 times a week and am about to expand to 4 times a week starting in August. In August, I am beginning a twice-weekly series where I interview other bloggers and mental health professionals/advocates.
I am married to my love of 14 years and we have two kids, ages 4 and 2. When I’m not blogging, I am an avid TV watcher, and I also love to read and workout.
