Dear Younger Me,

Terry, you are a wonderful creation. I know you do not see it yet, but you are a fighter, a beautiful soul who has led a hard life. You will succeed. I have so much faith in you.

You know we do not pick our parents. Dad loved alcohol. Do not listen to his abusive language. You are a much better person. He does not see the beauty in you. You will grow to be a kind, passionate woman. You will be someone who will be funny, witty, loving, and compassionate. You will make a difference in the lives of others.

Cherish the time with your mother and three younger brothers. They will not be around forever. Keep those you love close to your heart. Embrace their gifts. Always remember how valuable each person can be.

Look after your well-being. Exercise daily and eat what will be good for you. Practice kindness every day, but most importantly, be kind to yourself. You are a gift that is meant to be shared. Embrace the differences you see in other people. A valuable lesson can be learned if you give others a chance to bless you.

When you start writing poetry, keep it up. It will ultimately change your life. It will be a most precious gift that will be a blessing in so many wonderful ways. Your writing will lead to a fulfilling adventure.

Please remember you are a gift. Strive to be the best at everything you do. Have faith in yourself because you will make a difference. Most importantly, you are loved!

Lots of love,

56-year-old Terry
