Cara Martinisi is a wife and mother to three boys. Her oldest son, Christian, lives in heaven. She is the founder of the non profit organization, Love From Heaven – Christian Martinisi Memorial Fund Inc. After losing her son four years ago, unexpectedly, she formed the organization to offer light to those who are in their darkest days. The mission of organization is to provide resources, support and hope to families who lose children unexpectedly. It also memorializes Christian’s love of learning through a scholarship program.
Cara‘s previous experience includes working as a Deputy Managing Editor at Economist.com. For the past eleven years she has been a Stay at Home Mom. After experiencing devastating trauma, Cara found refuge in writing. She writes an inspirational blog about her journey through grief, offering the melancholy side as well as the post traumatic growth found in the aftermath. She shares her unique outlook on child loss at Christian’s Red Balloon.
Numerous articles written by Cara on the topics of grief, child loss, family health and dynamics, mental health, self care and post traumatic life have been published. She is a contributor on multiple websites including The Mighty, The Peace Journal and Self Sufficient Kids.
Cara is an active member on the Facebook page Self Care for Grieving Women and her blog posts have been featured there.
Cara is currently pursuing her certification for grief coaching. She is dedicated to helping individuals and families who struggle after loss. Her passion is to teach others the positive tools she has learned and to share resources that she has utilized on her journey. She also aims to aid families in recognizing that their connection with their loved ones continues on. Honoring the signs her son sends, often heart shapes and pennies, has helped to foster hope and healing for her family.
