My name is Elaine Dacres and I’m a local photographer and graphic artist from Dallas, Texas. I’m honored to be featured on Women With Gifts Intl. along with so many other amazing women. If you ask anyone about me, they would tell you I’m a fitness guru and vegetarian.
There are so many things to cover about my life, but I will share a few things that that has really impacted me and I feel has made me a better person.
I’m originally from Arkansas and arrived in Dallas when I was 6 years old. I was brought up in a very religious household where many rules were implemented in my life. Many of the rules kept me grounded, but there where other rules I couldn’t relate to. Due to the many rules it caused me to rebel a bit towards my mother.
At the age of 16, I was a teen mom with no idea of how my life would change with a baby to raise. With support of my family I was able to finish my high school diploma as valedictorian of my senior class. Later I enrolled in Mountain View college where I became the Student Ambassador. While taking classes at Mountain View, I also worked to raise my daughter which was very difficult as a full-time student.
After completing my courses at Mountain View, I continued to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a minor in Marketing. That was one of the best days of my life because I was able to show my daughter that all my hard work paid off. As a single mother, one of my most accomplishments in life was being able to see my daughter graduate from college in 2018.
Throughout my life, I’ve always been inspired by photography and art so I started a graphics and photography business in 2007. Fortunately, my business has managed to flourish by word of mouth. When you have people that believe in you it really matters and it causes you to step your game up.
I have a passion for photography because it captures memories, its my outlet to express myself and I take away so much joy from my clients per their events.
In addition to working, I’ve also spent my time volunteering at various organizations as a photographer in order to give back to the community. I volunteered Rae’s Hope, Chris Howell Foundation and Empower Series. Each organization have volunteered for has added a sense of meaning to my life. I’ve learned how to be selfless and manage my free time.
Because of my past downfalls with my health, exercising is another major part of my life and I find myself exercising many days out of the week and motivating others to do the same.
Here are principles that I live by that I would like to share with other women:
- If I was to provide words of wisdom it would be as follows:
- Keep God the number one guide in your life and a relationship with him is imperative
- Live life by enjoying things that make you happy
- Challenges are good, and they push you into your destiny
- Along time is important to understanding and knowing how you are
- Live is a journey and having a balance in all aspects is necessary….too much of anything isn’t always preferred
- Understand and discover what special talents you posses
Last but not least,I’m extremely involved in many things but I constantly search for my purpose and mission that God have for my life. My life hasn’t been easy and there were many challenges, but I can honestly say that I appreciate the journey and my growth. I learn more about myself everyday and some things work, and some don’t. Seeking God’s guidance and walking by faith gives me something to hope for in my journey.
