I’m sure by now most of you have heard of the story about The Ugly Duckling. To jog some of your memories, The Ugly Duckling is about a swan that was considered to be the ugly duckling because “the duckling” really didn’t fit in the the other little ducklings. Rightfully so because “the duckling” wasn’t a duck at all she was a beautiful swan. Some of you reading this may be thinking, what does this story have to do with me and how does this refer to my life? Well let’s chat about that shall we?
Let me first say that this post will be pretty similar to the to my recent writing called, Why Am I In This Circle. Please take a moment to read if you haven’t already. Moving on to my point…
A lot of times who we associate ourselves with can shape our personalities and our way of thinking. Moreover, who you associate with can also either boost your ego or either tear down your self-esteem. A lot of us hang around who we feel is right for us for friendships or relationships and we end us in situations similar to The Ugly Duckling where we feel that our friends are superior to us, when sometimes it the opposite.
Remember who you are and who you strive to be. Sometimes who we associate with weakens us because we attempt to be someone we are really not.~LK
