Instead of appreciating the fact that I’m different from someone, I begin to compare myself to the person and feel less because the person is slimmer than me or thicker or has a different hair texture or height and this ends up having a negative effect on me.
As a hair and fitness blogger, I have read stories of people who started hair journeys, weight loss or weight gain journeys because they wanted to look more like an image or please someone and it ended up draining them emotionally leaving them unsatisfied even if they accomplished their goal.
We should learn to appreciate ourselves the way we are, if you ever want to change anything it should be for you and because you want to be the best version of yourself and not for anybody else.
Self love is important, you can’t love other people or accept love from people if you don’t love yourself first and it has to be intentional because it is very easy to get carried away in this world where there is an idolized body type or persona. Constantly remind yourself that you were made the way you are for a reason, you can’t be someone else neither can anyone be you.
Write a list of things you love about yourself and paste it somewhere you can see and read it daily, leave space so you can write more things as they come and always remember that it’s your individuality that makes you you. You are special, you are beautiful, you are limited edition and you are more valuable than Gold.
