Alexis Smith was born Margaret Alexis Fitzsimmons Smith on June 8, 1921 in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada, to to Gladys Mabel Fitz-Simmons and Alexander Smith.
Alexis Smith was a Canadian actress known for her marvelous performances in films and on stage. Most of the actresses of that time were popular because of their physical attractiveness but she was known for her acting skills rather than just beauty and it made her a unique celebrity. In addition to her exceptional acting skills, her dancing skills were also quite remarkable as she became a professional dancer at a very young age. She was an ambitious girl and eventually her acting talent was recognized by a big production company and she was offered a part in a movie. After some uncredited roles, she was cast opposite famous male actors and she grabbed the opportunity by impressing everybody with her impeccable display of emotions. Alongside her film career, she also acted in plays with the same conviction and effortlessness, which made her a noteworthy performer on stage. She also appeared in some delightful roles on television throughout her career. The elegance and charm, with which she used to portray her characters, gave her the reputation of a classy and sophisticated actress.
She passed away on June 9, 1993, a day after her 72nd birthday, due to brain cancer in Los Angeles, California. Her body was cremated and her ashes were scattered over the Pacific. Her husband remained a widower until his death in 2000.
