Police say a woman who survived a car crash in Gloucester County, New Jersey, was struck by a hit-and-run driver after she got out of her vehicle. Annabel Aponte, 32, of Glassboro, died after the crash around 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Police say she crashed into a tree along Route 55 southbound near Route 42 in Deptford. Investigators believe she then got out of her car to look for help.That’s when she was struck and killed. Whoever hit her kept on going.
“There are people out here in the world that just don’t care, and they do things and they keep going and they think it’s okay and it’s not,” said Vanessa Pagan, a friend of Annabel’s.She struggled to speak through her tears.”For them to go ahead and just hit her like that, and it’s so sad.”
