A Dallas man is facing sex crime charges after police caught him in a stolen pickup truck with a 16-year-old girl he had sex with and forced into prostitution. The Dallas Morning News reports that 24-year-old Joe Vasquero Torres has been charged with sexual assault of a child, sex trafficking of a child, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest and possession of less than a gram of methamphetamine. Court documents say officers saw Torres and the girl get into a pickup truck outside a northeastern Dallas pawn shop Tuesday. Torres admitted to having sex with the girl, who says Torres once dropped her off at a house to have sex for money. Torres remained in the Dallas County jail Friday with a bail of more than $52,000. Jail records don’t list an attorney.
Dallas Morning News reported that the girl told police she had sex with Torres about 10 times. She also told officers that Torres dropped her off earlier that month for a night at a house in Garland to have sex for money. He picked her up afterward, police said. Torres admitted he had sex with the girl and said she is pregnant with his child, according to the affidavit. Police said Torres harbored the girl by providing her hotel rooms to stay in after she ran away from her family.
