When ambition is limited

AMBITION

Are you ambitious? What are your thoughts about ambition? How do you see ambitious people?  Many people think negatively about ambition. Of course, it has its negative side; but also its positive side.

You have to be ambitious. You have no choice if you want to make a mark in the world. Ambition is the gateway to greatness. You must pass through the door of ambition to get to greatness.

Surely, like any other thing that is exaggerated, too much ambition can be dangerous. None would advise you to become too ambitious; but ambition that is limited, controlled and properly channelled is good.

The world is growing at an unprecedented speed because of ambitious people. People dive to the bottom of the sea and explore its tremendous riches because of ambition.  People fly beyond the moon and return to earth, thanks to ambition. People come up with unbelievable scientific and technological invention and discoveries, thanks to ambition.

You do not have to see ambition negatively. People are shining and achieving world records in sports and other domains because they are ambitious.  Cures have been found for many diseases that have threatened to ravage the world down the years thanks to ambition.

The burning desire to make the most of one’s talents has motivated and inspired many people to do great things. What kept Thomas Edison going, despite about a thousand failures, was ambition that burned in his breast to conquer and make a mark in the world.

All the great ones whose lives have marked history have been driven by ambition without which they would have achieved very little, and made very little impact on the world.

The historical Sea-farer, Christopher Columbus and his men encountered difficulties on the wide sea as they voyaged, before discovering America. They saw their lives in danger.  The men put pressure on Columbus to end the adventure; but he refused. Ambition for greatness burnt in his heart and gave impetus to his courage, determination, faith, strong will, and steadfastness.

In 2008, the world watched dumbfounded as Barack Obama, burning with ambition to make history and leave his footprints on the sand of time, fought hard to sweep victories in the primaries and general election to become the first President of the United States of America from his race.

Without ambition, you cannot have the will-power to persist when things get tough; when discouraging messages are bombarded at you from all sides; when you are required to fight hard but you do not see any light at the end of the tunnel.

It is good to be ambitious. You are challenged to be ambitious to make your mark in life.
