My Mom, Betty DeBose Watkins, was born, raised and still residing in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born on May 29, 1948. She is the mother of 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Family gatherings are most important to her and it is the time for the family to strengthen the bond through reminiscing on the past and catching up on current events and future plans. The most memorable moments as a child are times when my Mom would make us clean the whole house every and I mean every Saturday morning then afterwards we would go shopping. My Mom was and still is a stickler about cleaning her house, being on time and looking her best. We grew up loving to shop. I always remember her being dressed like a runway model. I love high heels because of her. She attended our school events, planned family trips any provided sound advice during challenging times.
Many people often mistaken my Mom for my sister because she in fact looks years younger than she is. My Mom is retired and enjoying it. She gladly travels with me to assist with our ministry for my 12 year old son and her grandson National Gospel Recording Artist Jonathan Valencia. My 8 year old son, Daniel Valencia serves as the business manager and my Mom is there to oversee my boys when I am handling other tasks. The greatest thing I can say about my Mom is that I know that family is most important to her. My Mom has always instilled the importance of keeping the family close and as a result of that our family remains very close. I am grateful for her loving our family to life.
