When talking about fashion, how can we not mention some of the greatest names in the business, such as Coco Chanel, Yves Saint-Laurent, Christian Dior, Gianni Versace… All those designers, made a name out of their work. We know them mostly from their clothing lines but these fashion designers made it work while being a model to whoever was getting into the business.
In fact, Gianni Versace once said “That is the key of this collection: being yourself”. This is one of my favorite quotes because it indirectly defines style the way I see it. The way I see it, there’s no such thing as STYLE, because it’s not a general case but a personal one.
Each person can shape up style like they need and want to. Truly, style isn’t perceived in the same way by different people. Fashion is a lifestyle; it’s a creation that ought to be expressed. Also, taste plays a really important place in one’s style. Therefore, there are 3 words you need to separate by meaning: fashion, style and taste.
If I had to define one by another, I would say: Style is the taste of fashion. In fact, fashion is what you know and what you believe in, style is what you show of yourself and taste is how you conduct your fashion sense. Moreover, fashion is acquired, it’s not innate. That’s why; some can learn to be fashionable. Although, some can already have a developed sense of fashion before even trying, that’s called talent and destiny.
Some people think that fashion is overrated. But I believe, that it’s not unless people use it in order to get something out of it. Mostly, people investing in the industry, are really passionate and talented people that want to be heard. Not, people that are just in it to win it.
In all cases, fashion is used every day and everywhere, mainly because fashion is a way of life and everyone needs to be well-dressed and appropriate to be in today’s society and this is a fashionable step. Although I don’t agree with today’s society that initially recognizes people from their outer look, I think it’s important for every person to feel good wearing whatever he likes.
This is the one rule I have for my clothing: Be myself and feel good. Therefore, I don’t really appreciate wearing a complicated outfit or an unfamiliar outfit or even an uncomfortable outfit. I know it’s not worth it to be in this position, just in order to live up to a nice appearance. There are so many ways to dress up cutely, but still be at ease. It really depends on anyone’s taste and feelings.
This is one of the main reasons as to why I chose to invest my whole blog in fashion: beside it being a major passion for me, it’s a really subjective work: so criticism is really present in this industry, and I take it really well. Criticism is in a way a sign showing you that what you’re doing is good. Because you’re doing it the way you like it and not everyone needs to agree with it.
Another reason would be that fashion is principally fun. It’s work but it’s not work and it adapts perfectly with my lazy personality. Specially, since I love dressing up and sitting in bed. This combination matches fashion blogging amazingly.
