Guest Post|How seeing my mother cry changed my life

 This is what the Lord Almighty says:

“Consider now! Call for the wailing women to come;
send for the most skillful of them.
18 Let them come quickly
and wail over us
till our eyes overflow with tears
and water streams from our eyelids.
19 The sound of wailing is heard from Zion:
‘How ruined we are!
How great is our shame!
We must leave our land
because our houses are in ruins.’”

20 Now, you women, hear the word of the Lord;
open your ears to the words of his mouth.
Teach your daughters how to wail;
teach one another a lament.
21 Death has climbed in through our windows
and has entered our fortresses;
it has removed the children from the streets
and the young men from the public squares.

Jeremiah 9:17-21

I, as a child, often heard my Mother crying and wondered why she was so
sad. Sometimes I didn’t want to know why she cried, and other times I
was curious. I got up to go into her room to see what was wrong. As I
got closer to her room I heard her say things like “Save my children,”
“Bless me to take care of them,” “I love you Jesus” “Take care of my
Family” “Lord we need you” and “Have your Way in our lives.” All of this
happening with tears in her eyes on the floor before The Lord. This lead
me to cry because of her tears because I didn’t know life was or was
going to get that bad. She was covering me beforehand and I’m glad she
did because I fell head first into a sinful life.

I sometimes,because
of our broken home blamed God and reminded Him of her prayers. Bitter,
angry, foolish and sinful I turned to the world. God tells Jeremiah to
go get some Wailing Women to take up a mourning for us because of the
disobedience of Israel and Judah. They had been warned to come back to
God but they did not listen. This is not to say that Men’s prayers do
not work, but the purpose of God is to get whole families in His will.
There is nothing stronger in humanity than the love of a good Christian
Mother. I often go back to my Mother’s prayers to check to see if God
answered them. He took care of me in my sins, He saved me and Call me to
preach His word. He is also having His way in my life. I Love Jesus, I
need The Lord and I’m praying the same prayers for my Family, Friends
and even people I don’t know. I believe we still need some Wailing Women
to come forth and take up a mourning for us. Meanwhile, teach your
daughters and neighbors to go before God and trust Him to move in our
situations.
